Survey Tabs Ford As Most-American Automaker

For the fifth time in a row, the Ford F-150 has ranked as the most-American vehicle on the Cars.com American-Made Index. The index, which the auto Web site releases on a semi-annual basis, ranks the vehicles based on a percentage by cost of parts made domestically, location of vehicle assembly and how popular each car is with U.S. buyers.

Focus: "biggest improvement in the industry"

The Ford Focus is the most improved vehicle in the industry's top study measuring customer-pleasing design, content, and vehicle performance.

In J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) StudySM, Focus raised its score over last year by 88 index points - the biggest improvement in the industry.

The popular compact car performed better than the segment average in every category, scoring especially well in the areas of fuel economy, audio/entertainment/navigation, interior styling and exterior styling.

Ford Employee Pricing is Back!

Ford will offer its trucks to U.S. consumers for the same price it charges people who work for the company. The deal is in addition to current incentives on the vehicles. The program, which began this week, runs through June 30 on the 2008 model year F-Series, including F-150, F-250 and F-350.

Spycam: 2010 Ford Mustang

The 2010 Ford Mustang revamp has been subject to plenty of anticipation, and while we've seen some shots of the development mule before, we now have a closer look at the interior of Ford's upcoming pony car.

While the center stack remains shrouded in camouflage, some other interior elements can be seen very clearly. For example, the instrument cluster now features white-faced gauges and the tachometer has swapped position on the right with the speedometer, versus the current setup. The four round air vents have been reworked, and two new rectangular air vents can be found at the very top of the center stack.

Ford Motor Co. will debut the 2009 Focus coupe tonight on "American Idol" - as one of the three remaining vocal hopefuls heads home. The show airs at 9 p.m. on Fox.

Debuting a new vehicle on the show is a first for longtime-sponsor Ford, but why not take advantage of a nationwide audience of around 20 million?

For those who don't care about "Idol" but wouldn't mind seeing the car, the 45-second music video can be viewed 24/7 on americanidol.com under the Ford Music Video page.

Used vehicle report: Ford Explorer: 2002-05

HISTORY: The Explorer that first hit the streets for 1990 in both two- and four-door body styles was an immediate success for Ford. This medium-sized sport utility vehicle was upgraded in 1995 and completely changed and enlarged for the 2002 model year. A 210-horsepower 4.0-litre V6 was standard on base models while an optional 4.6-litre V8 upped the output to 240 horses. A five-speed manual transmission was the starting point for the V6, while a five-speed automatic was optional with that motor, but standard on the V8. After a four-year run, the Explorer received a complete makeover for the 2006 model year.

DETROIT - If an automaker promised to deliver more power, less pollution and greatly improved fuel economy from a smaller and lighter engine, would you pay more for it?

The Ford Motor Company is counting on up to half a million customers per year being willing to pay slightly more for a gasoline turbo, direct-injection engine rather than a lot more money for a diesel or hybrid engine.

The goal: boosting the fuel economy of its vehicles by 20 per cent in one fell swoop and cutting CO2 emissions by 15 per cent - with the bonus of better performance thrown in for free.

In January, Ford CEO Alan Mulally touted a redesign of the Ford Taurus for the 2010 model year by saying it was "the one we should have made originally."

The Internet has been buzzing the past couple of days about that 2010 Taurus after a fan Web site, www.SHOForum.com, posted a blurred photo of what it said was the new Taurus. That photo was picked up by another fan website, Taurus Car Club of America (www.taurusclub.com).

Ford Motor Co. (F) says its EcoBoost engine technology will help to deliver real-world fuel economy improvements for millions of customers within the next five years.

EcoBoost pairs advanced direct injection technology and turbocharging with a gasoline engine and can deliver up to 20% percent better fuel economy, 15% percent lower carbon dioxide emissions and superior driving performance versus larger displacement engines. The technology will be spread across Ford's lineup from small cars to large pickups.
